God wants to be with you!

Throughout salvation history God reveals His desire to be with His people. In the Old Testament He asks us to be present to Him by following His law and worshiping only Him, building the temple and offering sacrifices.

In the first reading God reveals a deeper understanding of the temple, one that goes beyond a physical structure. He tells David that He will build a house for him, not one built of cedar but of a living heir, Jesus.

The laws of the Old Testament are fulfilled in the Gospel. Mary is the new temple. She carries Jesus within her. He establishes an everlasting kingdom and offers the one perfect sacrifice.

Mary’s “yes” shows us how to receive our Lord and become temples for Him. We receive His True Presence in the Eucharist, aptly called “Communion”, by which we the Church are united to one another and to Christ our Head.
